The Musings of an Unostentatious Homemaker

I love her to distraction. She's the love of my life. When I hold her in my arms I hold the whole world in it. The cacophony of her laughter and tears are music to my ears. When she sits on my lap at the end of my very busy day - I am at peace. Her one sentence, " Daddy, I love you", has changed my life.

There they are . My two princesses- the apples of my eye. My two daughters. Playing in their room as usual. Fighting over the television remote. Suddenly the younger one starts to fall and I scream. I stretch out my arms to stop her fall. But I only touch air and as I look up aghast and surprised my eyes fall on my picture hanging on the wall. It had a garland around it.

I can still smell you. I feel your presence as soon as I take out the jewellery box.. You still exist in the jhumkas,bangles and the golden chain. You are safe with me and will be there forever- as long as I have your precious jewellery box. Now I know its value ,Ma. Miss you still though. 

Today my love letter is complete. Today I can  let you know all my feelings. After 2 long years of debate I am ready to tell you that I love you.  I put the letter in an envelope and put a stamp on it .Then I put it in my drawer. What if your wife opens your mail?

Time is like the flowing river, Running away from you. Time is the the sand in the desert , Passing through your fingers before you know. Time is  like the summer rain, Falls and in a trice it's gone. Time is like a gust of wind,  Blows away in the blink of an eye. Time is like the scent of the flowers , Grazes our nose and is over fleetly. Time is like the clouds in the sky, Floats away expeditiously.  Time is like a deer in the woods, Scurrying away like a flash.  Time passes you by in a haste, And is impossible to catch.

 'Life is a balance of holding on and letting go' - Rumi I was sitting at the favourite window seat of my room and was watching the world go by. It was around lunch time, when a large, red coloured Lamborghini came and stopped in front of our modest townhouse. It was a chauffeur driven car and there was only one passenger in the backseat. As the car stopped, the driver came and opened the door for his master. The first thing I noticed about the man who came out, was his height. He was a very tall, well built and well-dressed man. As much as I could see of him, he was fair, sharp featured and when he looked up towards my second story window I saw that he had piercing blue eyes. As he walked down our little driveway, I realized that he was a breathtakingly handsome man. I could gauge from his designer clothes and expensive car that he was well established in life - or just downright rich. All the gamut of feelings or emotions  Makes us really humans.  Grief, sorrow, pain and hurt All these make us very sad. Relaxation, harmony,tranquil and content  All these stem from inner peace. Affection, adoration, connection and caring  All these are part and parcel of loving. Awkwardness, guilt, embarrassment and humiliation  All these are part of being ashamed.  Euphoric, jubilant, elation and delight  All these reflect the feeling of happiness.  Irritated, annoyed, furious and irate All these are emotions showing anger. These plethora of feelings or emotions  Makes us really humans. 

Love Are you real or an illusion? You are a puzzle left unsolved for generations.  Some have idolised you and put you on a pedestal, Whereas others have villified those who have given in to your temptation.  Love  Are you a sensibleness or an aberration? You lead thousands into a web of hallucination,  And destroy their reputation, Plunging their lives into despair and destruction. Love,  Are you transitory or permanent? None have found a clear answer for this question,  Many have tried to unravel your mystery,  But failed to give any solution,  For this very complex emotion. Love, Thou art an enigma, We possess no code to break your mystery, So you will always be attached with a bewildering stigma .

My father is my hero I love him with all my heart He may not be renowned of name But he's still my supreme. He is an upright man With a heart of gold He instills in you A goodness of soul. He is honest, gentle and is kind And is passionate in all he does. He may not be a leader or a king. But he's still my supreme. He is a man of integrity His actions speaks Louder than his words. He is a fighter, reliable and is smart And is a protector to all his kin He may not be perfect or dashing But he's still my supreme. 

W- Warrior am I, keeper O- Of my fate... M- Many may debase me A- Abominate them I do N- Never will I capitulate to them.

She's the one who gave birth to me She's the one who brought me up Who has taught me what is right from wrong. She's the one who has inspired me She's the one who has led me on Who has taught me how to face all storms. She's the one who is my guiding star She's the one who is my safe harbour Who has taught me to love unconditionally. She's the one who is my anchor She's the one who is my destination Who has taught me to be the woman I am today. She's my childhood, womanhood, motherhood - She's my mom.

When will this nightmare end? When will we start functioning as a society again? Man is predominantly a social animal. How long can we survive this isolated life? Whenever we turn on the news or open the newspaper there is only the depressing news of death, doom and despair everywhere. Amongst all this gloom I am thankful that I am with my family and we have all our daily essentials. God ,in this world filled with negativity please help us to remain positive. Let's all hope that this too will pass. We will soon get our lives back.

Daughters are an asset And God has given me two, They bring me solace during all life's tests  My pride in them each day grows. It seems like yesterday that they were babies  But how time flies They changed from cocoons to butterflies  In the blink of an eye. The elder is a matured young woman  Who has a very kind heart  The younger is a fresh young bud Who has bloomed into a very pretty floret. They give me strength in all I do They are my pride and joy They are the best friends I have  And they hardly ever annoy. My heart is full of prayers for them I hope they fulfil all their dreams To be shining stars in their lives And the Almighty fill their lives to the brim.

Once upon a time  I was a baby  In my mother's arms. Once upon a time  I was a little girl Apple of my father's eyes. Once upon a time I was a moody teenager  Bane of my parent's life. Once upon a time  I was a young woman  Getting married with love in my heart.  Once upon a time  I was an amateur mother  Learning the ropes of the trade. Now I am a matured homemaker  Livin' life happily ever after.

Life's a race , Have to win it. Life's a test, Have to pass it. Life's a challenge, Have to accept it. Life's a book, Have to read it. Life's a song, Have to sing it. Life's a drama, Have to enact it. Life's a puzzle, Have to solve it. Life's a road, Have to traverse it. Life's a game, Have to play it. Life's a mountain, Have to climb it. Life's a gift from God, Have to love it.

God is omnipresent in this world Looking after his creation, We can always feel his benevolence Though many still doubt his existence. His all pervasiveness is seen in all his procreation - In the bounty of nature and it's magnificence , In the prodigiousness of birth and it's innocence, In the mystery of human life and it's consequence, In the great discoveries and it's excellence , In the ambiguities of science and it's credence, And most of all in the love and blessings of our parents, And in their remembrance.
