Their Twisted Fate - Part 1
'Life is a balance of holding on and letting go' - Rumi
I was sitting at the favourite window seat of my room and
was watching the world go by. It was around lunch time, when a large, red coloured
Lamborghini came and stopped in front of our modest townhouse. It was a
chauffeur driven car and there was only one passenger in the backseat. As the
car stopped, the driver came and opened the door for his master. The first
thing I noticed about the man who came out, was his height.
He was a very tall, well built and well-dressed man. As much
as I could see of him, he was fair, sharp featured and when he looked up
towards my second story window I saw that he had piercing blue eyes. As he
walked down our little driveway, I realized that he was a breathtakingly
handsome man. I could gauge from his designer clothes and expensive car that he
was well established in life - or just downright rich.
As I heard our doorbell chime, my baby sister danced into my
room looking ecstatically happy, breathlessly excited and ethereally beautiful.
''He's here! He's here!'', she exclaimed. Her voice shook with animation. I
smiled indulgently and said that I had indeed caught a glimpse of the man who
so exhilarated my little sister. The man who was the topic of our discussion
was Julian, my sister, Rachel's boyfriend.
Rachel was very beautiful but today she was looking particularly
so.
She was wearing a pretty red dress. Her hair was neatly tied
in a French plait. Our mother's strand of pearls adorned her neck and ears. She
looked alluring, elegant and drop dead gorgeous. I told her not to keep him
waiting. "Go and have a great time ", I said. She came and hugged me,
then asked me if I will be alright. I reassured her and she glided out of the room
to go and meet the love of her life. I took up my vigil at the window. I saw
them come out of our house and get into the car. They made a stunning couple
and Rachel had never been happier. As the red car turned and went out of sight
I closed my eyes and sent up a prayer to the Almighty for my baby sister's
happiness. For her I will bury all my sorrows - the secret will go with me to
the grave. I made up my mind and went for lunch with my parents.
