The Musings of an Unostentatious Homemaker

When I hold you in my arms After a hectic days work When you give me that angelic smile It's innocence purges me of all tiredness It rejuvenates me. When you fall asleep in my arms All my tiredness drains away When in your dream you smile that toothless smile It's innocence cleanses me of negativity It revitalizes me. Dear baby of mine As you grow older And life catches up with you Please don't lose your innocence And keep smiling your pure and simple smile.

Gone are the days of youthfulness Of unfiltered joy and gay abandon We are now prisoners of the mundane.   But as we advance in age The memories of our college days Never fail to put a smile on our face. Now we revisit those days And are filled with gaiety and exuberance During our college reunion .

I saw you in the summer rains I was all but six You were laughing while you got all drenched My feelings overwhelmed me. Tears coursed down my cheeks It was not something I could fix You were unaware of my presence My feelings overcame me. Now I am a matured man Going through life's conflicts Whenever I am sad and down I think about you still. You are my inspiration My solace midst hostilities I know I carry you in my heart I still await you to  see me.

She stays in a beautiful place Amongst the grand mountains And the scenic view Amongst nature's lap Where the river flows Amongst the picturesque scene Which makes it loved Yet all this beauty cannot stop Her flights of nostalgia For her homeland dear Far, far away.  

I hear his music wafting by The mellifluous sound of the flute Much before I see him pass The strains of his melody Puts my worries on the mute. The tunes of his flute Drfting through my window Uplifts my spirit Takes away my distraught Makes me ready to face the world. I run to the window to see him pass As everyday I am surprised to see His thin, old body Weary and bent But his face aglow with the music he plays.

Are we really safe Amidst this attack on our health The whole world is afflicted This malady can't be stopped With all our wealth. We have forgotten to breathe We are all in masks Cannot go out in the open And shake each others hand When will this end we ask. We cannot visit our family or friends Cannot hug each other In this hour of strife We are forced to stay at home We are in house arrest. We are incarcerated In solitary confinement Detained in our own home Isolated from all Hoping for freedom.  

Life is a journey That everyone has to traverse It starts when we are born And ends in a hearse. Life is a voyage Filled with trials and strife It sometimes feels like hell itself And sometimes paradise. Life is an expedition That all of us partake It is filled with smiles and tears But there are no retakes. When we come to the end Of our wonderful travels We are sure to find joy and happiness In the lap of our Maker.
