Metamorphosis

It was just yesterday
She was a small baby
With an innocent face
And a toothless smile
Cooing and babbling through life.

Metamorphosis
Amazes me
She changed before my eyes
From a caterpillar to a butterfly.

Then she was young schoolgirl
Happy and smart
Enjoying her life
With her friends and family
Playing and learning through life.


Metamorphosis
Astounds me
She changed before my eyes
From a fledgling to a bird.

Now she is an adult
A beautiful young lady
Who knows her duties
And competent in all she does
Working and carousing through life.

Metamorphosis
Bewilders me
She changed before my eyes
From a fawn to a deer.

I hear his music wafting by The mellifluous sound of the flute Much before I see him pass The strains of his melody Puts my worries on the mute. The tunes of his flute Drfting through my window Uplifts my spirit Takes away my distraught Makes me ready to face the world. I run to the window to see him pass As everyday I am surprised to see His thin, old body Weary and bent But his face aglow with the music he plays.
