Death Row
Who thought leaving this world was so tough
It pains me to think
It's like a gaping wound in my gut.
I never gave it a thought when I killed
Mercilessly sunk my knife into someone's heart
And enjoyed watching the life fade from their eyes .
I never gave it a thought when I caught my target
After a long cat and mouse game
And savoured the look of despair on their faces.
I never gave it a thought when I played God
And took life at my whim
And relished the feeling of power I felt at their fright.
I am frightened now
Chilled to my bones
As I await my destiny
On the death row.
Who thought leaving this world was so tough
It pains me to think
It's like a gaping wound in my gut.
This is the way of life. The poem is very beautiful.
