Lost
I can't remember your face anymore
You've been gone so long
Your face is a hazy memory
Like the misty winter's sky.
My recollections of the times with you
Are fading very fast
They crop up in my mind's eye sometimes
And haunt my thoughts for days.
My only reminiscences of you
Are from the photos I have of you
But they do not clearly jog my mind
As they are sepia- toned with time.
But the thing I have not forgotten, Mom
Is your loving smile
I can still feel the warmth of your hugs
Whenever I think of you.
You've been gone so long
Your face is a hazy memory
Like the misty winter's sky.
My recollections of the times with you
Are fading very fast
They crop up in my mind's eye sometimes
And haunt my thoughts for days.
My only reminiscences of you
Are from the photos I have of you
But they do not clearly jog my mind
As they are sepia- toned with time.
But the thing I have not forgotten, Mom
Is your loving smile
I can still feel the warmth of your hugs
Whenever I think of you.

DeleteMemories and photographs both fade with time but the longing and attachment remains forever for people close to one's heart. Beautifully thought and composed Mira. Made me go back in time to nostalgic memories of my mother.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Glad I could revive your memories.
