I Wonder

I wonder what the world would be like

If the sun was not shining 

And what life would be like 

If the earth was not a-turning.


I wonder what the world would be like

If the wind was not blowing 

And what life would be like 

If there was no rain falling. 


I wonder what the world would be like 

If there was no bird singing 

And what life would be like 

If the flowers were not blooming.


I wonder what the world would be like 

If there was no mountain rising 

And what life would be like 

If there were no rivers flowing. 


I wonder when everyone would understand 

And stop with all the misusing

Would our world be as perfect as we find it 

If all these things were missing?

I hear his music wafting by The mellifluous sound of the flute Much before I see him pass The strains of his melody Puts my worries on the mute. The tunes of his flute Drfting through my window Uplifts my spirit Takes away my distraught Makes me ready to face the world. I run to the window to see him pass As everyday I am surprised to see His thin, old body Weary and bent But his face aglow with the music he plays.
