They say you are ugly, short, and fat

I tell them I am beautiful from within

Open your eyes and see

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.


They  say you are dark, plain and sickly

I tell them I am fair from within

Open your eyes and see

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.


They say you are pale, homely and unattractive

I tell them I am attractive from within

Open your eyes and see

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.


They say you are uncomely, unsightly and ill- favoured

I tell them I am fetching from within

Open your eyes and see

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.


Open your eyes all you critics

And understand what true beauty is

It is what is within the person

And not what you see externally.

I hear his music wafting by The mellifluous sound of the flute Much before I see him pass The strains of his melody Puts my worries on the mute. The tunes of his flute Drfting through my window Uplifts my spirit Takes away my distraught Makes me ready to face the world. I run to the window to see him pass As everyday I am surprised to see His thin, old body Weary and bent But his face aglow with the music he plays.
