Their Twisted Fate - Part 3 (Concluding Part)

'For you a thousand times over ' - Khaled Hosseini

After a long time of struggle and sadness my family is happy again. Rachel has found her soulmate in the form of Julian. He is a great guy. Handsome, rich, funny and a person who understands my quirky sister. Both of them are enamoured with each other. He has my parents’ blessings and they are smiling after a longtime. My accident had robbed them of their smile. After Julian's entrance into our family everyone is happy again. Especially my sister who was the most affected by my paralysis caused by the spinal injury in the accident.

Today is the day when Julian is supposed to propose to Rachel. They are going away for the weekend and we are all sure it will happen in the next couple of days. I hope it does. They deserve each other. They were meant to be. So what if I am keeping a little secret for the first time from my sister. It is for her good. Or isn't it? I went to bed that night debating whether to tell her my guilty secret or not.

I awoke with a start as I felt someone sit down next to me on the bed. The early morning light was filtering through the drapes and in that first blush of light I saw Rachel sitting on the bed. Her face was clearly visible and what I saw in her face broke my heart in two. Tears were streaming down her face.

"You knew ", I whispered. She nodded her head silently and took the remote from my bedside table and switched on the television. There was a breaking news being flashed in all the channels - the grand expose of businessman and philanthropist Julian Adams. They were reporting how four years back famous businessman, Julian had been part of a hit and run accident. He was speeding in his red Lamborghini when he had hit a young woman. But instead of helping her and taking her to the hospital he had sped away from the scene of crime. Not only that, he had paid off the police so that he was not arrested and his family name was intact. They also said in television that he had not driven a car after that. But by the cruel twist of fate he had fallen in love with the younger sister of the woman he had hit and disabled for life. As luck would have it, both the sisters remembered the registration number of the car and so the brave young woman, Rachel, had forced Julian to give himself up to the police. Justice had been served, even though delayed.

"Why did you do it?" I asked softly. "You loved him!" I said. She smiled a bittersweet smile and said, "You would have done the same. No sacrifice is bigger than you or the relationship that we share. We'll always be there for each other. "

I opened my arms and hugged my sister, as we both cried softly in each other's arms.

I knew now nobody could tear our bond. Not after this. We were at peace.
